# Body mass index (BMI)

From Longevity Wiki

**Body mass index (BMI)** is defined as the body mass divided by the square of the body height, and is expressed in units of kg/m^{2}, resulting from mass in kilograms (kg) and height in metres (m). The BMI is expressed in kg/m^{2}, resulting from mass in kilograms and height in metres. If pounds and inches are used, a conversion factor of 703 (kg/m^{2})/(lb/in^{2}) is applied.

BMI = mass_{kg}/height^{2}_{m2}= 703 x mass_{lb}/height^{2}_{in2}
