Mitochondria

From Longevity Wiki

Mitochondria are sub-cellular structures (organelles) that are responsible for the generation of ATP, a high-energy molecule that is used by cells as a store of energy. With the exception of mature red blood cells, mitochondria can be found in every cell in the human body. Mitochondria contain a genome separate from the genome found in the cell nucleus.
